Penha Longa Resort holds the Green Key award 2026. Green Key is an international eco-label for tourism establishments, awarded in Portugal by ABAAE following an independent audit against criteria covering areas such as energy, water and waste management.
In 2022, Penha Longa Resort's Forest Management Plan was formally approved by the ICNF, with implementation beginning in 2023. The plan covers a total area of 218.54 hectares, including 37 hectares of forest land, reflecting the ecological value of these habitats and their role within the broader landscape of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Located within a restored former dovecote, the Interpretation Center serves as a dedicated space for environmental education and the promotion of local biodiversity. The center provides visitors with information about the natural heritage of the resort and the surrounding Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, highlighting local habitats and native species.
A cooperation protocol was established between Penha Longa Resort and Cascais Ambiente in 2023. This agreement constitutes a fundamental framework for preserving the natural values and landscape of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
